City of Durham Duathlon Feedback Donna James, our club Secretary, put her professional experience in Market Research to good use for the City of Durham Duathlon. She devised a Competitor Feedback system, to enable the race organisers to learn what competitors thought about the event. The questionnaire was given to all competitors after the race and over 75% of entrants filled out the form. Over 90% rated the organisation very good or excellent. Particular praise went to the marshal for their encouragement and friendliness. 67% rated the route as very good or excellent, but inevitably some found the hills tough and there were many comments about potholes on the road! The race information provided scored well with 77% finding it very good or excellent. Over 80% said they thoroughly enjoyed the race and 70% said they would enter again. Although 68% rated the facilities highly, there were many negative comments about the facilities inside the Sports Centre. Most focussed on the showers which were out of order and the toilets which broke later on. Looks like next year we need a plumber on standby! Subjectively, the race organisers all felt that preparations prior to the event had gone well and on the day most things went to plan. However, they were delighted by the overwhelmingly positive response revealed by competitors to the 2010 event. The results of the survey confirm in an objective professional way that Durham Tri succeeded in putting on a very good event. Congratulations must again go to Ellen-Anne and the team.
