Crook
We meet at 'The Quarry' pub, Quarryburn Lane, Hunwick on Saturdays or Sundays at 8.00am. Routes include Weardale, Teesdale or North Yorkshire, 30-70 miles at a pace to suit more experienced riders. For further information contact Graham Bradshaw or Chris Fairless.
Please note that numbers attending vary from week to week according to the time of year, the weather and the race calender. It is advisable to check with the contacts listed before turning up.
HETTON-le-HOLE
Saturday afternoon sessions on the bike track in Hetton Lyons Country Park, Hetton le Hole. About 6 miles North-east of Durham city - it's not a velodrome but a traffic-free park road, offering us a 2km loop or a choice of hilly 1km or 'flat-ish 1km loops. From April to September we have a 75-minute session, 13:00 to 14:15 on Saturday, following on from the Hetton Hawks morning session. Check the website.
Occasionally, the Hetton track will have been booked out for other events and we will have to relocate or abandon the session for that week. The following dates have another event booked and will therefore NOT BE AT HETTON: MAY 8, 29; jUNE 26; JULY 3, 17, 31; AUGUST 21, 28. Please check the NEWS column on the website for information on arrangements for these dates.
DUATHLON TRAINING at HIGH SHINCLIFFE
Practising the different elements of Triathlon/Duathlon separately is all very well, and of course we also practise Transition separately too. But having a session where you can practise all the elements of a race - in a sequence and under a little bit of time pressure, is very helpful for finding out what really works for you. So our Duathlon Training session at High Shincliffe has a special place in members' training plans. It's run under strict timing conditions as a handicap event: slower athletes go off first, quicker athletes later, in small groups. It's run monthly; the Summer Series runs from May to August on Thursday evenings [3rd Thursday of each month, 18:10 sign-on, starters go off from 18:50] while the Winter Series runs on Sunday mornings [3rd Sunday of each month, 08:15 sign-on,starters go off from 08:50] Fuller details HERE
