Not even the weather could deter the Duathlonistas today. It might have been cold -and it was! , it might have been wet and windy -and yes, it was - but 36 starters lined up for the second event in the Winter Series.
What a great field made it to the start, 36 of them in all - 16 of them from Durham Tri.
And despite the inclement weather, they showed what triathletes are made of.
2 participants managed to break the hour today, despite the conditions -
Ian Hesler, u/a, was quickest in 59.08, with Daniel Jenkins of DuTri making a welcome return with a very quick 59.55. Not far behind was James Wildgoose also of DuTri in 1.00.41.... In today's rain and cold, these were hugely impressive times.
In the main event, the handicap, Andrew Sedgewick from Darlington -on 8 minutes- was first home, scooping up the 25 points. Ian Hesler who had started on 16 minutes was second home with Trevor Kelly 3rd.
A full report with all the figures - well, most of them.... it's tricky writing on disintegrating paper! - will be up very soon.
